Hi, I'm John. I'm an attorney by education and nonprofit director by profession. My interests are focused on running and reading. I read with a particular emphasis on business, entrepreneurship, marketing, and behavioral economics.
I started this blog in 2009 to chronicle thoughts/ideas, keep a log of interesting books, and share useful information. Over the course of the past couple years, my writings have been more focused on a few specific topics: working at a Chamber of Commerce (or any nonprofit organization), running marathons, and business/entrepreneurship.
Formal Education
I have a B.A. from UCLA and J.D. from Pepperdine School of Law. I also received a Certificate in Entrepreneurship & the Law from the Palmer Center at Pepperdine School of Law. I am a current member of the California Bar and I hold a California Real Estate Brokers License.
What John Has Done
Here are a few interesting things I've done (at least I think they're interesting :)
- Finished the 2011 NYC Marathon
- Finished the 2011 LA Marathon (and raised money for the nonprofit Meals on Wheels)
- Finished the 2010 LA Marathon (and raised money for the nonprofit Room to Read)
- Finished the 2010 Santa Monica Classic 10K (the local paper even included a quote from me...ha!)
- Finished the inaugural 2009 Kauai Half Marathon
- Finished the 2009 San Francisco Half Marathon
- Finished the 2008 San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon
- Been skydiving and bungee jumping (but not at the same time)
- Lived in Italy and Spain
- Worked at the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) as an Attorney-Examiner
